Best Binaural Beats for Sleep – What Really Works?

In this post, I am going to talk about the best binaural beats for sleep that you can find over the internet today according to my opinion, this is a brainwave entrainment based sleep audio program that I believe really works since I have seen it benefitting a lot of people.

You might have noticed I said a lot of people, not me, that’s because binaural beats don’t suit me and I am not in the favor of using them.

What makes me write this post then?

Well, I have tried a brainwave entrainment based product called 15-minute manifestation program for reviewing purpose, and I really liked it because the program uses these audios very smartly using relaxing music which won’t let you notice that binaural beats are also present in it.

Though I prefer to use guided meditations sometimes, I always keep myself away from binaural beats, but this program was a little different from the usual weird annoying music we find in a lot of brainwave entrainment based products. Continue reading

5 Safety Measures for Using Binaural Beats – Avoid Side Effects

In this post, I will be discussing a few things with you using which you can make a proper use of brainwave entrainment tracks without having to face any possible side effect of using such audios.binaural beat safe

This is in continuation to my previous post on the harmful effects of binaural beats, I understand the urge, dependence, and curiosity many people might be having for brainwave entrainment audios, so I am providing a list of things a person can do to minimize the probability of the problems that may occur if they prefer to use these audio tracks for any specific purpose.

But before that I want you to understand that these audios are not that dangerous as some people assume it to be, though I am not someone who prefers to use them since it became a threat to my inner peace in the past, I still sometimes occasionally try and test programs that are based on binaural beats.

I must say, some brainwave entrainment products have impressed me to a great extent; however I believe that I can achieve the same things using conventional ways as well and that seems better to me, but that’s just my opinion. Continue reading

Does Binaural Beats ADHD Treatment Really Work?

A lot of binaural beats ADHD curing tracks are available on many sites nowadays, but are they really effective? I will be sharing my honest views on this here.

Brainwave entrainment tracks are now being used by many people and it has always received mixed responses, some people have found them very effective whereas others call it a waste of time and money.

Makers of the brainwave entrainment based products have prepared such tracks for a plethora of purposes which also includes the audios for ADHD patients.

I am not a psychologist or therapist, so the advice you will be getting here is totally based on what I have known from my research and experience with brainwave entrainment tracks.

Science behind the Workings of the Brainwave Entrainment Sounds

When two tones of different frequencies are sent via two channels of the headphone, a person hears a beat like sound.

These beats are called binaural beats and the frequency of this illusory sound is almost equal to the difference between the primary two tones.

Based on this many people have claimed that these beats can alter a person’s brainwave frequency, and thus it enables us to induce a desired brain state.

How Is It Related to ADHD?

According to the concept that promoters of brainwave entrainment use, ADHD patients find it hard to focus because their mind normally is in alpha and theta state (a lower frequency state where one is less alert) whereas others are in beta state (high frequency state where one is completely awake).

Since some people are pretty confident that these brainwave tracks can induce any desired brain state by using the tones of different frequencies according to the requirement, they use a frequency that is aimed to make ADHD patients more alert.

People’s Opinions and My Views

As I mentioned before, people have different types of opinions about binaural beats. I have seen many people praising brainwave entrainment audios especially for increasing their ability to concentrate.

Some people are regularly using them while reading books because they have found that their focus gets better while these audios are played in the background.

From the above talk, it might seem like ADHD patients will find these audios quite helpful, but all of these are just people’s opinions and nothing has been proved yet, and more than double of this number of people criticize binaural beats.

I heard somewhere that some psychologists are testing these beats on their ADHD patients, I am not sure about that, but I am well aware that there is no legitimate scientific proof or research work yet made to back up such claims.  I have not met or known anyone who has cured his ADHD using brainwave entrainment audios.

My opinion on this would be that generally you can try these audios and find out whether you are able to focus better or not, but if you are an ADHD patient then I would advise you to seek medical help rather than relying on these audios.

I would advise you to try some meditation for concentration instead of using these tracks, I don’t like these audios due to my unpleasant experiences with it in the past ( read about it in my post – Harmful effects of using binaural beats) and that’s why I don’t recommend them.

Binaural Beats for Meditation – Does It Really Work?

If you are someone who is interested in spiritual growth, then there are chances that you might be highly inclined towards the use of binaural beats for meditation because nowadays these tones have gained a lot of attention due to the claims made by people that it could help a person to achieve deeper levels of relaxation.

Binaural beats are an illusory continuous beat sounds that one perceives as a result of two different frequency waves being played on his/her right and left ears. (For a detailed information on this, read the post – Binaural Beats)

The beats heard is often of a frequency that is equal to the difference between the frequency of the primary waves, that indeed is an interesting phenomenon, but how does it help you achieve various brain states? – It is believed that these audios can alter your brainwaves frequencies and induce mind states associated to those specific frequencies. Thus, it enables you to create the right conditions for better meditation.

The 4 Brainwave States

Based on the brainwave frequency of various mind states they are divided as follows:-

Beta State – This happens when you are fully awake and your brainwave frequency is above 14 Hz like when we do various tasks that requires our conscious attention.

Alpha State – This is the relaxed condition that we experience a few moments before falling asleep, here our subconscious mind is open to receive suggestions and this situation is adequate for meditation. Brainwave frequency here goes below 14 Hz.

Theta State – When your brainwave ranges 4-7 Hz you are less conscious but still alert. This is what people expect from brainwave entrainment technologies, to take them into the Theta state of mind because most of the interesting stuff like lucid dreaming or deep meditation happens when your brainwave falls below 7 Hz, but if it goes below 4 Hz you will lose the little awareness you had earlier. You can receive insights or creative solutions by reaching to this level of relaxation.

Delta State – When your brainwave frequency goes below 4Hz, you lose your awareness completely, this happens when you are having a deep dreamless sleep.

Role of Binaural Beats in Deep Meditation

So, as we have seen there are different states of mind which has a corresponding brain wave pattern, based on this fact some of the producers of binaural beats tracks claim to take you into the alpha or theta state so that you could experience the desired level of relaxation.

Usually we want to be at the alpha level for a nice rejuvenating meditation, so when two tones of frequency difference 8-13 Hz is played in the right and left channels of the headphone you will hear binaural beats which will induce the alpha state. As a result of this your mind becomes calm and you will find it easy to focus.

Further, it is said that these audios can also help one to experience the altered states of consciousness like that of Zen monks. Theta state which occurs during the small frequency difference between alpha and delta state is where the Zen like meditation happens, hence the brainwave entrainment audios that allows you to reach the brainwave frequency of 4-7 Hz can be very effective to enable you to experience a deep insightful meditation.

My Take on Binaural Beats

I don’t like these audios much; they are irritating, annoying and disturbing to me. I know that many studies have backed up the utility of brainwave entrainment. I am also aware that some people find it very effective.

Makers of the brainwave entrainment products now use various types of soothing music in the background to make it less irritating, but my experience has never been good with it.

I prefer simple meditation like insight meditation or I use my favorite guided meditation tracks for this purpose, and it works fine for me.

One other good tool I found for deep meditation and relaxation was Omharmonics which is an advanced technology that takes brainwave entrainment to a level where it stops being so annoying whereas the positive effects increases.

Brainwave entrainment do have various disadvantages, you can read about it in detail here – The Harmful Effects and Dangers of Using Binaural Beats.

Binaural Beats – Workings and Benefits

Binaural means to listen with two ears. In 1839, a physicist named Heinrich Wilhelm Dove discovered that a person hears the sound of continuous beats when waves of two different frequencies are introduced to his both ears simultaneously.

Since then binaural beats has kept gaining popularity. Especially, in the past few years a lot of people have become too interested in it due to the buzz created by some advertisers that it can help people to enhance their mind power.

Today, people are widely using binaural beats for meditation because of its utility in taking a person into deep relaxed states of mind and in causing the altered states of consciousness.

A plethora of self help products is available now that uses brainwave entertainment technology, which are the audio waves used to stimulate brain using binaural beats, they claim that a person can achieve various mind states which even includes the deeper levels of meditation reached by Zen monks.

How Does Binaural Beats Work?

Binaural beats are not real, it is an auditory illusion, so what you hear as beats is simply happening because of your brain’s response to these tones.

The third illusory tone that you will hear is a low frequency one which in most cases is pretty much close to the difference between the frequencies of the actual two tones.

The maximum frequencies of the two tones must not be greater than 1000 Hz for the beating to be evident. The difference between the frequencies of two tones must be less than or equal to 30 Hz for best results.

If the above conditions are not met the two tones will be heard discretely without the person being able to sense the third low frequency tone.

Binaural beats requires the use of a good quality of headphone or earphone, since two different frequency audio will be played on your both ears this is not possible with the use of the regular speakers.

Advantages of Using Binaural Beats

Before I get to the points, I want you to understand that binaural beats have indeed proved to be very effective in changing one brain’s state to a great extent still the benefits that I am going to write below are not research based, these are just some common advantages lot of people have had with the use of brainwave entrainment. But, there are chances that you may not experience any significant change.

  • Lowers the brain frequency, thus becomes soothing for your mind.
  • Helps you to meditate more easily by creating appropriate mind states for better concentration.
  • The brain frequency caused by the use of binaural beats kills stress.
  • Binaural beats is a quick way to enter the alpha state of mind (the one that occurs a few moments before sleep) from the beta state of mind( fully awake state).
  • It is a great tool for self hypnosis.
  • Modified tones are effective for lucid dreaming.
  • Help you to experience altered states of consciousness.
  • Often capable of changing your emotional state.
  • Good for deep rejuvenating sleeps.

Even though I have seen the effects of binaural beats in the past and I have known many people who regularly use these audios for various purposes, I still am not in favor of the use of these tones due to some not so good experiences I have had with it, I have talked about in more detail in this post – The Harmful Effects and Dangers of Using Binaural Beats.

If you are interested to try a product that’s based on brainwave entrainment technology and such audio tracks suits you then I will suggest you try out the 15-minute manifestation program.

The Harmful Effects and Dangers of Using Binaural Beats

I have tried binaural beats to get into a deep relaxed state of mind during meditation and for many other purposes for which they are being promoted nowadays.side effects of binaural beats

It’s everywhere on the internet now and you will find a lot of such audios on You Tube for free since many people have learned to compose them now.

The first time I used a brainwave entrainment audio was for lucid dreaming as I was too obsessed with my dream world back then.

I had some significantly positive results with the regular use of these tracks before it started working the other way around.

Some people have reported great success with brainwave entrainment tracks and I really don’t have any intention to prove them wrong, this is my personal opinion and from my experience, I consider it as a threat to a person’s inner peace.

I don’t have a long list of brainwave entrainment dangers, usually they are not much harmful for a person who is in a perfect health condition, but through this post I want to alert you to be more careful especially with the quality of audios that you select. Continue reading
