I am a huge fan of the movie matrix; needless to say, I have watched the matrix trilogy multiple times. The reason for my deep interest in it is that I love how the whole concept touches on some very real aspects of human psychology.

This is a very interesting one folks; you can use a chewing gum to alleviate your nervousness to a great extent.
Okay, back in my college days I was very obsessed by snooker and there was one player who used to dominate in all the clubs I knew. I noticed something about him that whenever he reaches to a crucial point in the game, he will pull out a chewing gum from his pocket and start chewing it before making his next move.
Now I know how it helped him, it was enabling him to stay relaxed!
Studies have shown that it can reduce anxiety and increase memory recall, but I have seen it working well for dealing with nervousness until now.
We smile when we are happy, a natural reaction that is hard to hide when we are feeling a lot of positive emotions right?
Well, what’s astonishing is that we can reverse this process. Yes, you can become happy by smiling.
Our mind is wired to release “happy” chemicals when we smile since it has associated “smiling” with “happiness”.
Next time you feel sad, try to put a long smile on your face and see what happens.
Accept it or not, we all want to be in control whenever we want something from others, but in most cases, people either give away their power or come up as a total jerk by trying to manipulate the other person in such situations.
The secret to making others do what you want is to make them believe that they are in control of the situation. This is very helpful for parents while dealing with their kids.
So what you should do is to formulate your words by giving them options that are constrained by what you want them to do.
For example, if you want a busy friend to go to a movie with you on the weekend you will first ask something like “which movie do you think would be better to watch on the big screen, Suicide Squad or Mechanic? Now, after they have answered, you will next ask “Alright then let’s watch it together this weekend!”
I am not saying that this will always work, but it is better than asking directly. What happens is that the other person will have to go against his own opinion in order to deny your request, which is often a very difficult task for us humans.
As kids, our authority figures used to make us do the boring tasks by luring us using great rewards.
It could be cookies for doing the homework or permission to play video games for cleaning the room; we were programmed to beat procrastination by the desire to get something we love in return.
We all may have grown up enough that no one can fool us like that anymore, but our subconscious is still and always be a kid.
If you will closely observe, when we procrastinate, we are saying to ourselves something like this “today I will watch a movie, and I will finish this task tomorrow at any cost” and guess what? Tomorrow never comes.
This way our thoughts are working against us and though we want to do something useful, we end up wasting our time.
All you have to do is to reverse this thought – “Pleasure before work” to “Work before pleasure” using what our authority figures used to do.
Make something you love as a reward for doing the task and be very strict about not allowing yourself to get it before you finish the work.
Right now, I will be watching a movie after completing this post!
This way brain associates something pleasurable at the end point of your immediate work and it will start working in your favor.
Some of you might have already realized this; we get better at anything by teaching it to others once we have learned it. This one is especially for students and learners.
I had a scholar friend who used to love teaching others before exams and that made him an expert at whatever subject he choose.
Teaching is a task that our mind finds a lot more interesting than learning, but it has to be good at learning in order to teach.
See, if you will learn something for some future purpose of yours, your mind won’t be that much interested in it. But if you will do it for helping others you will find yourself more focused.
The reason behind this is an ego need, we love to be seen as a “good helpful person” and we can use this need consciously as an advantage.
I know many people don’t like to hear such words, they believe we should be “who we are” and not pretend to be someone else, I agree with that, we should be “who we are”.
But, who are we?
There is no proper way to define one’s identity; I have shown this to many people practically who are actually willing to know their truth that there is no truth “we are who we believe we are” and nothing else.
That being said, call it a new age mantra or psychological trick, we can alter everything about ourselves by acting as our “ideal self”, that’s a tough process when we aim too high but small changes can be made right away.
So, if you want to be more confident “act as a confident person” or if you want to be more attractive “believe and act as if you are attractive”.. This really works, gradually your behavior will change according to your new beliefs and you will soon realize that you have become what you wanted to be.
With the technological advancement, most of us have forgotten that there used to be something called the paper, but our subconscious mind has not.
Studies have shown that those who write things down on a paper in order to remember it do have a very high chance of recalling it afterward in comparison to people who use the other ways.
This is another psychological hack that you can use to get things done from others, I absolutely love how it works, but please use it only when you have any serious need rather than for exploiting others.
What this method is all about is that you can make others to like you and do you a big favor if you can make them fulfill your small requests first.
Our brain wiring makes us to like people for whom we have done any kind of favor because we justify our own actions by convincing ourselves that the person is good and deserves that favor.
On contrary to what people believe “if I do them a favor they will return it”, they will instead be doing more work for the same people over and over again.
Sharing and helping is the key to joy. I am not asking you to be unkind, but I also want you to be aware of this fact.
Here’s the final one, and I love it. I got to know about this when I was reading a book for reviewing purpose named “the instant switch“.
I have been using it ever since, although many times I don’t get time or feel sleepy, however, I know it works!
Just try to take a short 10-20 minute nap in the afternoons before 4 pm and you will gain the energy to stay active for the rest of your day.
This is a perfect solution for people who get tired after the half day mark, make it a habit and your body will automatically feel sleepy at that time, it will also wake you up after 10-15 minutes once you get used to it.
It is far more effective than a cup of coffee, but you need a bit patience to make yourself accustomed to such naps.

I don’t know if you have ever heard of the power pause technique or not, but it is a personal development tool that can help you to overcome any of your life problems.
Last week I read a very good book from John Harricharan named “The Power Pause” and that was the very first time I got to know about this method, it is something so simple that even a kid can learn it, but please don’t make the mistake of doubting its effectiveness by its simplicity.
Honestly, for me also it was hard to believe that the power pause method can help me in any way to improve my life because what it teaches appears to be very primitive from the perspective of someone like me who has explored a lot of self-help materials.
The three steps you will learn here that this whole thing is all about, is not a secret formula that you won’t be already knowing, however, I think what makes it so effective is one important thing it does to a person’s mental state when he is facing any kind of problem, which is to break his focus for a while from the troublesome thoughts.
A sudden shift in focus is crucial in solving any life problem, so many spiritual teachings and great philosophies have pointed out that all our problems are created by our mind and the focus we give to them is what magnifies it.
Well, that makes sense, but according to John Harricharan this process can do a lot more than just that, this 3-minute practice can do miracles and he has witnessed such powerful workings of this method in his own life.
As I mentioned, this simple process is much more than just a tool to change your emotional state, it is something you can use to change your life situations even during times when it seems totally out of control.
I am not saying this just because I believe that we hold the creative power to live a life of our desires by being in harmony with the universal laws, but I have read the testimonials where many people have shared the stories on how this one simple method has changed their lives.
I have gained a more control over the way I react when something distressing happens by the use of this method, that alone makes a lot of difference.
If you have heard about the law of attraction or learned the techniques to use your subconscious mind power for achieving what you want in life then you might be well familiar with the creative visualization process and how it gives you the power to attract what you want in life.

It is not at all necessary that you can only use this in difficult situations; you can make it a part of your life by performing it whenever you feel negative emotions in your daily life.
I really believe that you can make a lot of positive changes in your world using this method; it is especially very useful for people who find it hard to meditate or do creative visualization. After all, who cannot manage to use 3 minutes for their personal development right?
You will find a lot more about this technique in the book, but I am going to show you how to perform the power pause from what I have learned.
1 – Stop/Pause
In the first step, you will break the flow of negative thoughts or emotions that any situation might be causing in you.
Sometimes you will have to convince yourself to draw your focus for 3 minutes, you are not going to take the whole day or even an hour, so you will succeed in making your mind to agree on focusing somewhere else for just three minutes.
2 – Visualize and Feel
Don’t worry; you don’t have to be good at creative visualization for doing this. You just have to think or imagine a different life situation where you are not having any troublesome thoughts, you will have to bring the feelings of being in a good situation while doing this, it doesn’t matter if you are seeing any vivid image or not..feelings are important.
Most people make a mistake of imagining a solution or a future event where they don’t have the specific problem which is bothering them right now. Please keep in mind that the solution is not in your hands, so just focus for a few minutes on the feelings by imagining a pleasant experience, it could be something opposite to what is troubling you right now but don’t imagine how it will happen..just think about the end results.
3 – Gratitude
A heartfelt “thank you” can do wonders and that’s why it is the final part of this particular process. After doing that short visualization just say “thank you” to the universe or any higher power you believe in.
This gratefulness that you are expressing here is an act of faith where you trust that the universe will bring your life back to the track.

In my personal development journey I have always been too much focused on changing the limiting beliefs present in my subconscious mind, which indeed is necessary for a long term effect but recently I have come to learn that our conscious mind’s abilities are also pivotal when it comes to achieving any goal.
This power pause thing was one small example of that and I am also learning a technique which triggers “physiological languages” that are certain behavioral methods that can greatly influence any situation in your life and thus turning it to your favor.
